MANILA, Philippines — More than 280 people have been arrested for allegedly engaging in e-sabong in several parts of Central Visayas, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported yesterday.In a statement, the PNP said that of the 283 people arrested from Dec. 5 to 10, 276 were gamers, three were tellers, and two each were referees and operators.PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said the raiding team seized P155,779 in cash bets, eight computers and 52 phones.Azurin ordered the regional and provincial police directors to stop all forms of illegal gambling activities in their jurisdictions and intensify intelligence gathering on e-sabong operations.“Let us help each other save our people from getting hooked on gambling,” Azurin said.
