4 soldiers hurt in roadside bombing (Latest Sabong News)

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Four soldiers were wounded in a roadside bombing in the outskirts of Lamitan City, Basilan yesterday.
Members of the 7th Army Scout Ranger Co. were conducting foot patrol when animprovised bomb planted by suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits went off along the highway in Barangay Sabong at around 9 a.m.
Col. Cirilo Donato, commander of the 104th Army Brigade, said the wounded soldiers were taken to a hospital in Lamitan before they were airlifted to the Camp Navarro General Hospital.
Pursuit operations were launched for the rebels.
Soldiers belonging to the Western Mindanao Command had been scouring Basilan and nearby areas in search for six Vietnamese sailors taken from a Davao-bound cargo ship in Basilan strait by suspected Abu Sayyaf gunmen on Friday morning.
