True to its mandate of helping more Filipinos, the private charity organization Pitmaster Foundation, chaired by businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang, pursued immediate efforts to extend emergency assistance to families affected by the onslaught of Super Typhoon Karding.
In a statement, foundation’s Executive Director Atty. Caroline Cruz said that they had repacked 5,000 relief goods for residents of Quezon Province.
Cruz said that the initiative is a testament to the foundation’s commitment and dedication to help countrymen get back on their feet.
“We care about people. In times of crisis, we have always come to help those who have been left vulnerable due to the current pandemic and of course the recent typhoon that caused devastation in most parts of Luzon,” she said.
The Pitmaster official also vowed to keep the bayanihan spirit alive, especially amid the difficult times.
“Even in times of uncertainty, Pitmaster Foundation is and will always be a family that will support and lift one another. It has been ingrained in our DNA to look for the welfare of the Filipino people,” she added.
To recall, the foundation first launched its first relief operations in October 2020 when it served Filipinos living in Albay, Bicol with 10,000 food packs after it was severely affected by the strong tropical cyclone Rolly.
Since then, the private charity organization has been part of the “all government approach” in the humanitarian missions in typhoon-hit areas.
The assistance, in this case, mostly comes in the form of food packs and other relief or emergency items.
The foundation had also actively engaged the government in fighting COVID-19 at the height of the pandemic.
Before the prohibition of online cockfighting or eSabong in May 2022, the foundation had a regular dialysis program that provided financial assistance of P4,500 to dialysis patients.
There are also efforts to help the government in its advocacy for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating the impact of climate change.
